About

About us

The Sustainability Ambassadors Program is a registered campus student organization sponsored by the UC Office of the President’s Carbon Neutrality Initiative (CNI) and the UC San Diego Sustainability Office. Volunteer ambassadors work under the direction of the CNI Climate Action Student Engagement Fellow and the Sustainability Program Office.

Our Mission

We aim to educate and engage students through peer education and programming to raise awareness of UC San Diego’s efforts to reach carbon neutrality and encourage students to implement sustainable living methods. We promote climate action and energy conservation through campus-wide presentations, an annual climate change symposium known as Green Talks, social media, and other collaborative projects.

Get Involved

Want to join our team? Sustainability Ambassadors become knowledgeable about CNI and focus on informing and engaging students on personal, campus-wide, and global changes that can be made to reach CNI goals. Ambassador position applications are announced each summer here.

Our Team

Sierra Streit (she/her)

Sierra is a fourth year student in Sixth college majoring in Environmental Systems: Earth Science and Communication. She is particularly interested in climate science and monitoring the impacts of climate change on the environment and people, and she has most enjoyed taking classes like Paleoclimatology, Ice and the Climate System, Hydrogeology, and Satellite Remote Sensing. As UC San Diego’s Climate Action Student Engagement Fellow, she is excited to spread student understanding of climate change and awareness of the UC Carbon Neutrality Initiative. In her own life, she saves energy through simple actions like turning off the lights when leaving the room, taking advantage of natural lighting, always using reusable containers, bringing reusable bags to the grocery store, and recycling. You can also find her teaching skiing in Mammoth, leading trips with UCSD Outback Adventures, hiking with her dog, paddleboarding, or rollerskating.

Bryan Delgado (he/him)

Bryan is a fourth year Marine Biology major in Sixth college. As a Marine Biology major, he has learned much about the many negative impacts climate change has on the environment and living organisms. He wants to do his part in helping to maintain the ecosystems and amazing diversity planet Earth contains. On a day to day basis, Bryan does his best to reduce his own carbon footprint and engage in and promote sustainable activities, such as participating in beach cleanups, reducing paper towel waste, and using public transportation. Bryan also like to play the bass guitar and go hiking.

Kristina Kakadia (she/her)

Kristina is a fourth year Marshall student majoring in Marine Biology. She is excited to become part of the climate action culture at UCSD. Kristina’s passion for climate action has led her to transition to an entirely plant-based lifestyle. In addition, she brings awareness to climate change through through her school and work, especially through suggestions of the many small changes we can make as individuals to reduce our carbon footprint. In her free time, she enjoys swimming and playing piano.
